Kelp forests of the Monterey Peninsula
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
Subtidal video surveys are an equitable and accessible tool for research and teaching. After minimal training, these videos, conducted along underwater transects, can be be analyzed by anyone, anywhere. These surveys have the potential to become an interactive teaching tool that introduces students to the scientific method in the context of subtidal ecosystems.
This collection contains transect videos and related data from the Monterey Peninsula.
This work was conceived in the context of the DIMES (Diversifying and Integrating Marine Education at Stations) program funded by an NSF RCN-UBE Incubator award (2018116). Additional funding was provided by Stanford University’s Transforming Learning Accelerator.
