Marijuana in NYT
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
Within the last few decades, the valence of marijuana on the stage of public
opinion has changed dramatically. As of 2020, 33 states have legalized
medical marijuana, and eleven have legalized marijuana for recreational use.
In this paper, I use word embeddings to explore changing media framing of marijuana, applying a potentially more granular methodology to see how media representations of charged topics change over time.
