Abstract
Raphael’s capstone aims to document the histories and experiences of Filipinx American migrant domestic and health care workers, from the colonization of the Philippines by the United States to the present. It utilizes a comparative, transnational analysis to interrogate how the Philippines became a country known for its labor export, and how transnational policies have shaped the occupational experiences of the Filipinx American diaspora. Lastly, it aims to document and analyze how these histories perpetuate structural inequities among Filipinx American migrant workers in the present day, especially as public health crises like COVID-19 made the structural vulnerabilities of these populations more acute.
