- Abstract
- Joan Procter (1959 AB Humanities) shares memories of growing up in Carmel-by-the-Sea during World War II and attending Stanford during the post-war boom. She describes campus traditions from the 1950s, including the Stanford Indian mascot and how female students presented themselves on campus. Procter also shares memories of working as a hasher in the dining halls, a favorite palm tree, and being a student in the rehabilitation program while the Medical School was moving from San Francisco down to Palo Alto.
