Abstract
This dissertation focuses on the interactive dynamics between electronic and acoustic instruments fused with the rich and diverse folkloric sounds of Turkey. The performance practices of folk instruments are incorporated into Western symphonic instruments and their capabilities are extended through technological means. Unpredictable pairings of acoustic and electronic instruments are explored to create unconventional timbres as well as subvert traditional instrumental roles. Multiple contrasts merge: Digital vs. Acoustic and Western vs. Folk.
