- Abstract
- Artist James E. Allen was a painter, illustrator, and printmaker known primarily for etchings and lithographs showing industrial workers of the early twentieth century. He was also a popular illustrator whose work decorated several books and hundreds of stories in popular magazines like Collier's and Saturday Evening Post. A number of prints and most of his illustration work fell into relative obscurity. This collections represents an ongoing effort to bring together all of the artist's work for the first time.
