Abstract
In this dissertation I study a number of important questions about the sovereign and corporate credit markets. In the second chapter, I analyze the effect of the Credit Default Swap (CDS) market on sovereign borrowing. In chapter three, I study patterns of international reserve accumulation by emerging economies. In a joint project with Juliane Begenau on the corporate debt market, presented in chapter four, we focus on firm financing over the business cycle.
