Abstract
This dissertation consists of three papers under the topic of Measurement and Representation. The first paper is entitled QUESTIONING QUESTIONS IN THE LAW OF DEMOCRACY: WHAT THE DEBATE OVER VOTER ID LAWS' EFFECTS TEACHES ABOUT ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS. The second paper is entitled BOLSTERING FAITH WITH FACTS: SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT REDISTRICTING COMMISSIONS WITH REDISTRICTING ALGORITHMS. The third paper is entitled REDISTRICTING AND NATIVE REPRESENTATION.
