Student Voices at Oakland International High School and the Right to Education

Abstract/Contents

Abstract

For her human rights capstone project, Kelsey Carido conducted informal fieldwork at Oakland International Highschool (OIHS) as a way of bringing forth an academic inquiry on the right to education for immigrant youth. Through group interviews with students and site visits to OIHS, Kelsey further explored the experiences of these students in relation to academic aspirations, wellness, and personal identity. Aside from student testimonial, Kelsey also included personal reflections on her passion for immigrant justice and how this influences her interest in education as a human right.
