Biographical profile |
John and Aida Gardner’s granddaughter Jennifer Reese was born at Stanford Hospital and raised in San Francisco in a 1905 house on a moderately steep hill. She reports that she was very shy as a child and spent a lot of time flipping through her mother’s (Francesca Gardner Reese’s) complete collection of the Time and Life Foods of the World series, which were kept in the living room. She brought the books into the kitchen and taught herself to cook. Jennifer’s blog (http://www.tipsybaker.com/) began as a way to write about her own huge cookbook collection and fascination with cookbooks. She is also the author of the 2011 memoir/cookbook Make the Bread, Buy the Butter (Free Press) about the merits of producing or buying various foods, from bagels and hot dogs to honey.
