Microstructures of Thrombolites, Lago Sarmiento, Patagonia, Chile: Insight into growth processes
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- One of the most spectacular locations of thrombolites exhibiting large macrostructures such as bowls, broccoli-shaped structures, domes, eroded-top domes, columns, overhanging domes, and pancake-shaped structures, can be seen at Lago Sarmiento, Patagonia, Chile. Microfacies and growth processes were characterized for samples taken from Lago Sarmiento to study the relationship between macro- and micro-morphologies.
