Abstract
The purpose of this quantitative legal analysis was to explore faculty and student perceptions of diversity and campus initiatives regarding free speech, gender equity, and ethnic diversity. Students and faculty (n = 167) from 20 institutions participated in this study. The results revealed that the perceptions of the Importance of Campus Diversity compared to the Comfort with Campus Diversity were manifested at a statistically significant level (p < .001). Results also revealed that students perceived Comfort with Campus Diversity at a statistically significant degree higher at liberal arts institutions than research institutions (p = .04).
