- Louise Herring reflects on her involvement with the Stanford University Women’s Club from the late 1970s on and the club’s role in creating a community around the university. Topics include teas at Hoover House; a description of various sections of the club, including Author’s Coffee, Music, and Stitch & Chat; fashion shows; and holiday programs. Herring also comments on her work as the civic affairs chair of the Greenmeadow neighborhood in Palo Alto. Herring’s husband was Conyers Herring (1914-2009), a professor of applied physics at Stanford.
