- Adam Tow (BS Symbolic Systems, 1997), states that his favorite memory at Stanford was studying abroad in Paris. He describes how he built on this love of France by being a theme associate at the French House. Additionally, Tow recalls working in the Tea House and being a member of the Asian American Student Association (AASA) and the Undergraduate Chinese American Association. He claims that his “niche [at Stanford] was not having a niche” and enjoyed spending time with friends from different facets of the university.

Biographical Profile | Adam Tow is a digital media producer, software developer, and content creator. In his professional life, he currently works at Zoom where he is a lead software engineer. Outside of work, Adam is an indie software developer and has a popular application for controlling video production hardware from Blackmagic Design and for filing messages in macOS Mail. He previously had a career in tech journalism, where he builds websites and organized conferences for The Wall Street Journal, AllThings.com, Recode, and Vox Media. He and his wife produced, directed, edited, and marketed Autumn Gem, a feature-length documentary on Modern China's first feminist, Qiu Jin. From 2009-2013, they screened the film over 120 times at universities, high schools and organizations around the world. He graduated from Stanford University in 1997 with a B.S. degree in Symbolic Systems, with a focus in human-computer interaction. He cites his time studying abroad in Paris, France, in 1995, as one of the best experiences a Stanford student can do. |
