Interview with Sanjay Raghu : Alumni Stories
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- Sanjay Raghu (BS Electrical Engineering, 1992) speaks about his experience as one of the first three students of color from South Africa at Stanford, which was made possible through the efforts of Stanford Admissions Officer Jon Reider and the Educational Opportunities Council. Raghu likens his initial experience at Stanford to “drinking from a fire hydrant”; the lack of restrictions was something that he, as someone of Indian heritage living during apartheid, could have never imagined. He shares stories of playing tennis, finding community at the Bechtel International Center, and the Loma Prieta earthquake.

Bibliographic information
Biographical Profile | Sanjay Raghu is an entrepreneur, marketer and advisor to startups based in San Francisco. When he is not dreaming of new ways to explain and market technology, he can be found chasing a ball on a tennis court, hiking beautiful Bay Area trails (including the Stanford Dish) with his wife and daughter, and photographing the wonders of San Francisco or the flora of Stanford with his daughter. He is grateful to Stanford for widening his world, enriching his life, unlocking his potential, supporting the fight for freedom in South Africa and most importantly, for blessing him with a group of dear Stanford friends that are his family for life. |
