- The Chinese Railroad Workers Digital Materials Repository offers open access to materials that are selected for their qualities that they are difficult to retrieve, and rich for historical study. All individual items are curated with descriptions that highlight revelatory details. The repository of original historical materials is held in the Stanford University library to enable study by searching seamlessly historical items and scholarly secondary publications.The Chinese Railroad Workers in North America Project seeks to give a voice to the Chinese migrants whose labor on the Transcontinental Railroad helped to shape the physical and social landscape of the American West. The research and publications of the Chinese Railroad Workers in North America Project may be found here: https://web.stanford.edu/group/chineserailroad/cgi-bin/website/.The co-directors of the project are Gordon H. Chang, Olive H. Palmer Professor of Humanities, Professor of History, and Director of Stanford’s Center for East Asian Studies and Shelley Fisher Fishkin, Joseph S. Atha Professor of Humanities, Professor of English, and Director, Stanford’s Program in American Studies.
