Bibliographic information
Note | First of two lithographs commissioned by Kindred, MacLean & Co. as a Christmas premium for their clients (the second is "Elk"). An accompanying card reads in part: "James E. Allen, well known lithographer, etcher and artist, is particularly well-fitted to create thr subject of our 1944 original lithograph. Mr. Allen lived in Montana in his youth and for years was privileged to observe and study at close range wild animal life while on numerous hunting, trapping and fishing expeditions. / The present subject shows a male and female caribou on the alert just prior to their migration before the coming of the heavy winter snows. Mr. Allen's first hand knowledge and deep interest in this subject have resulted in a print that he is proud to sign." |
