Sensory Ecology of Marine Animals
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- This collection is a home for the scholarly outputs of the course, "Sensory Ecology of Marine Animals." Animals living in the oceans experience a highly varied range of environmental stimuli. An aquatic lifestyle requires an equally rich range of sensory adaptations, including some that are totally foreign to us. In this course, we examine sensory systems in marine animals from both an environmental and behavioral perspective and from the point of view of neuroscience and information systems engineering. Each year the course has a particular theme ('Oxygen: From Environment to Genes,' for example). The students produce, among other things, an annotated bibliography of published materials that support understanding in the area of the course theme. These bibliographies are the main content type in this collection.
