Presence - Immersive communication for families on the go
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
This report highlights the design developments made by students in ME310 at Stanford University and Hasso Plattner Institute during the 2020-2021 academic year. The corporate partner for this project was Hyundai Motor Company. The project prompt was to design a system for 10-15 years into the future, which enhances communication within/between/around the vehicle.
Fully autonomous cars will redefine mobility for everyone, especially families. Children will be able to transport themselves independently, while parents will no longer have to spend hours on pickup logistics. Since cars will drive themselves, all passengers will be able to dedicate their full attention to communicating with family and friends. Presence is a seamless and engaging car communication system. It enables each family member to travel safely and independently while feeling connected to their loved ones.
