Bibliographic information
Biographical Profile | Anoop Sinha graduated from Stanford in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems Engineering. He joined Stanford as a sophomore transfer from Caltech. In his three years at Stanford, he lived in Schiff (Sterling Quad), Roble, and Serra (Stern), and in the latter two was a Residential Computer Consultant (RCC). He also spent time during his junior and senior year as an intern at MIPS Computer Systems, a division of Silicon Graphics that was founded by Prof. John Hennessy, his undergraduate advisor. He did research in early speech recognition-powered user interfaces at Stanford as part of CSLI (Center for Study of Language and Information). His interest in this area of research continued in graduate school, where he got his MS and PhD from UC Berkeley in Computer Science (EECS Department). After graduating from UC Berkeley, he worked at McKinsey & Co. as a Management Consultant, started a venture-backed Silicon Valley start-up, and worked at Apple on Siri, leading early Machine Learning work for Natural Language Understanding. Currently he is a member of Facebook AI Research's team, envisioning and building future AI-powered experiences. He grew up moving West across the US, living in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and California. He currently lives in Palo Alto with his wife (Aparna Sinha, Stanford, BS '99, MS '01, PhD '05) and two children. |
