U.S. nursing homes staffing levels in 2023
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) licenses and regulates the industry every skilled nursing facility (aka nursing home) that accepts payments from Medicaid or Medicare. About 15,000 such facilities operate in the United States. A smaller number of facilities only accept private payments and are not regulated by CMS but might be covered by state laws. This dataset compiles the daily staffing levels of those facilities in 2023 and additional fields to compare those levels with the Biden's minimums proposed and research recommendations.
