Abstract

The theme of Phase II of the CUREe-Kajima Joint Research Program was mitigation of the effects of earthquakes and other natural hazards for safety of urban areas. Joint research was·conducted in the. following focus areas:
• Evaluation of the socio-economic consequences of large
earthquakes
• Reliability-based optimal design
• Integrated tools for optimal design
• Early warning systems
• Near-source ground motion
• Modeling of fiber reinforced concrete
