Dual Narratives of the Founding of the State of Israel: On a History of Perspectives
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
Sophia Zamoyski’s capstone project discusses historical and political perspectives on the continued statehood conflict between Israel and Palestine, specifically the political memories surrounding the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and The Nakba, offering a personal narrative based on her travels in Jordan and Israel during the summer of 2022. Sophia retells her firsthand experience speaking with locals, citizens, migrants, displaced peoples, and refugees, and the complexities that arise when analyzing historical facts and conflicts. Her project further examines how historical narratives and remembrance become so divided and driven by state rhetoric and policy.
