Abstract
Even for established firms, it is a jungle out there. Technologies become obsolete, consumers' tastes change, and new rivals await in every corner, hoping to take their position. How established firms cope with such a changing environment is the theme of my dissertation, Essays in Microeconomics. The dissertation consists of three chapters. The first chapter treats change as inexorable and studies how incentive conflicts within the organization affect their ability to deal with it. The second and third chapters, in turn, study whether established firms can slow change (instead of dealing with it) by trying to prevent the entry of new, more efficient rivals
