When Melodies Gather Archive
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
When Melodies Gather: Oral Art of the Mahra, by Samuel Liebhaber, published by Stanford University Press in 2018 has been accessioned into the Stanford Digital Repository. This page serves as the public-facing cover of that archive. The assets in the archive, project content and media files, remain dark while the publication is available in its live version at http://whenmelodiesgather.org. The files will only be made accessible when the live publication is no longer supported by evolving server and browser configurations.
Each media object in the collection is attended by descriptive metadata linking it to its associated poem. All poems and scholarly textual content are contained in the whenMelodiesGather.json file, a data export from the Scalar platform in which the original publication was presented. Assuming a researcher has access to an installation of Scalar 2, a researcher could, with some syntactical adjustments, import the json file and load all images, audio, and video files to a media directory to recreate the original presentation.
