Interview with Weston Parker Headley : Alumni Stories
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- Weston Headley (AB International Relations and Philosophy, 1990; AM History, 1995; JD 1998) talks about his journey to Stanford, deciding on a field of study, and his work as a research assistant at the Stanford Center for Economic Policy Research. He explains that he felt very separate from the rest of the student body, in large part because of his identity as a first-generation low-income student during a time when there was little financial or other support from Stanford. Headley identifies some of the highlights of his undergraduate experience: strong friendships, studying abroad in Berlin, and eating clubs at Toyon. He also shares a detailed anecdote of experiencing the Loma Prieta earthquake with his fellow students. The interview ends with Headley saying that he wishes he had trusted the process of integration more and felt less alienated during his undergraduate years at Stanford.
