- Since it opened in 1937, Frost Amphitheater has playeda key role not just in Stanford student life but also in the greater performingarts community of the Bay Area, from theater productions and graduationceremonies to symphony and rock concerts. Frost has hosted such diverse talentas the San Francisco Symphony, the Boston Pops, and the Grateful Dead (whoplayed there 14 times in the 1980s). After undergoing a two-year renovation,Frost is back in operation and hosting symphony and rock concerts in itsclassic open-air bowl.
