Interview with Daniel Garcia : Childcare at Stanford Oral History Project
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- Daniel Garcia reflects on the nature of history and his fifty-year teaching career at the Children’s Center of the Stanford Community (CCSC), beginning in the 1970s as a Stanford undergraduate student. Garcia describes the center’s revolutionary roots, originating when graduate students took over an old elementary school on Mayfield to establish a childcare space. He also reflects on the difference between working with older and younger children, the vitality of the teaching team, the co-op nature of the center, and how he works to make all children feel unique.
