- Stanford@SEA is a 16-unit course that covers aspects of marine science including oceanography, marine physiology, policy, maritime studies, conservation, and nautical science. It is offered biennially through the Department of Biology and the Department of Earth System Science. Half the course occurs at Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station in Pacific Grove; the other half aboard the R/V Robert C. Seamans, which the Sea Education Association (SEA) operates in the Pacific Ocean with the support of the National Science Foundation. Each student in the course is required to develop and carry out an independent research project. This collection houses the resulting student research papers. Stanford@SEA began in the spring of 2003.
