Two results on period maps
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- The content of this thesis is two separate results, loosely connected by the common theme of "period maps." The first is a result on real hyperelliptic curves with an application to extremal polynomials. The second is an application of p-adic Hodge theory to two Diophantine problems, the S-unit equation and the Mordell-Faltings theorem.
