Herb Abrams cancer report on radiation
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- Radiology Professor Emeritus Herbert Abrams thumbs through a 708-page report, the seventh in a series of reports since the 1945 atomic bombings to investigate the effects of radiation exposure. Even low levels of radiation--about 10 times that from a CT scan or 30 to 40 times the annual background levels to which we are all exposed--can injure cells, according to the study. In addition, women may be more at risk than men for some radiation-induced cancers, and infants are more vulnerable than adults.
