Abstract
The data contained in this repository pertain to the paper entitled: “Individual differences in associative memory among older adults explained by hippocampal subfield structure and function” by Carr, Bernstein, Favila, Rutt, Kerchner, and Wagner, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2017. This paper describes the results of a study investigating whether individual differences in episodic memory among older adults (n = 43) can be explained by differences in the structure and function of medial temporal lobe (MTL) subfields. Using high-resolution structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and functional MRI (fMRI), we demonstrated that a combination of structural and functional MTL subfield measures significantly accounted for differences in memory performance. The data contained in this repository include the following: (1) a file named ‘readme.pdf’ that contains greater detail regarding each type of data, (2) a spreadsheet named ‘subject_info.csv’ containing participant demographics and memory performance, (3) a zipped file containing high-resolution 7T structural MRI data for each participant, (4) a zipped file containing high-resolution 3T fMRI data for each participant, and (5) a zipped file containing onset files for each participant, to be used in conjunction with the fMRI data.
