Abstract

The CIFE (Center for Integrated Facility Engineering) research on information technologies applied to the AEC (Architectural, Engineering, and Construction) industry is described in this paper. Specifically, the topics analyzed in September 2000 Summer Program are presented.

The main topics developed on this seminar were: 4D models and visualization, process and organizational modeling, and e-business and collaborative technologies. Besides, an analysis of these theme implicaitons for the AEC Chilean industry is presented.

Este articulo describe la investigación que realiza CIFE (Center for Integrated Facility Engineering: Centro de investigación perteneciente a la Escuela de Ingeniería Civil y Ambiental de la Universidad Stanford), en cuanto a las aplicaciones de las tecnologías de información a la industria A/E/C (Arquitectura, Ingeniería y Construcción). Particularmente este artículo presenta los tópicos analizados durante el seminario desarrollado por CIFE durante Septiembre de 2000.

Los principales temas desarrollados en este seminario fueron: modelos 4D y visualización, modelación de procesos y e-business y tecnologías colaborativas.

Además se presenta un análisis de las implicancias que tiene este tema para la industria AEC chilena.
