TR081: Structure and Characteristics of Knowledge From Construction Experience
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- Knowledge based on construction experience is fragmented and very difficult to capture and classify. Once construction experience is better understood, advanced information technology can assist with transfer between projects. This research project increased understanding of construction experience that should be shared between projects by identifying examples of this knowledge applicable to each major phase of a project and describing characteristics of this knowledge. This report focuses on the structure and characteristics of knowledge from construction experience; a companion report from this research project (CIFE TR No. 78) describes the development and testing of a database application to capture construction experience and make it available for future projects.
