Sea of Cortez Expedition, Launch
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- After nearly two years of planning, the Sea of Cortez Expedition and Education Project finally set sail from Monterey, Calif., on March 26 at 4:15 p.m. The 72-foot-long vessel, Gus D, began a two-month journey to Baja California and back. On board are a writer, photographer and two marine scientists from Stanford University. Their goal is to retrace the legendary 1940 voyage of author John Steinbeck and biologist Edward "Doc" Ricketts.
