Abstract/Contents

Abstract: This polygon shapefile contains the fire hazard severity zones for state responsibility areas (SRAs) within Monterey County, California. An SRA is an area of the state where the State of California is financially responsible for the prevention and suppression of wildfires. SRA does not include lands within city boundaries or in federal ownership. SRAs are rated moderate, high or very high fire hazard. This layer is part of a collection of GIS data for Monterey County in California.
Purpose: This dataset is intended for researchers, students, and policy makers for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data.
