- These papers, collected by Sally Bush in preparation for a book on Dowley, include a transcript of an interview with Dowley, 1979; two reports from school visitations done by Dowley, 1970; clippings and articles on Dowley and pre-schools, 1978-93; correspondence of Sally Bush, 1991-93; and audio tapes of two programs on Bing Nursery School, 1991-92, and reminiscences of Dowley by several associates, 1992.

Biographical/Historical | Edith Mary Dowley was professor of psychology and education at Stanford University and founding director of its Bing Nursery School. Dowley earned her M.A. at the University of Michigan in 1934 and her doctorate in education at Stanford in 1951. She taught at Stanford from 1949 until her retirement in 1975. |
