U.S. Neighborhoods greenness measures and social variables (3155 records in shapefile format)
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- This polygon shapefile includes neighborhood boundaries supplied by Zillow.com, the Los Angeles Times and the City of Denver, and variables related to (A) parks, open space, greenness, and "pavedness" (impervious surface) together with (B) a number of demographic variables from the 2010 U.S. census. The project, titled City Nature (http://citynature.stanford.edu) was undertaken by researchers at Stanford University, led by Jon Christensen. This data was developed by Karl Grossner, assisted by Noemi Alvarez.
- Purpose
- This dataset is the product of a 2013 study seeking to explain the significant variation in areas of parks, open space and "park-level greenness" in 38 large U.S. cities, at the scale of neighborhoods.
