- Claude R. Baudoin graduated from Stanford with a master’s degree in computer science in 1974. In this interview, he shares his experience growing up in France and exploring his identity as a gay man. Remembering his time at Stanford from 1973 to 1974, he mentions early attempts to support LGBT students on campus through the Gay People’s Union and the LGBT Community Center. He notes that his major involvement happened through Stanford Pride, an LGBTQ organization for Stanford alumni. He describes the group’s beginnings and its efforts to provide more resources to students and alumni, namely the Stanford Pride Fellowship. Additionally, he describes life outside of Stanford, such as living in Austin, Texas, at a time when the AIDS epidemic was gaining national attention. He also touches on the United States Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage in 2015 and his marriage.
