Data for Davidson, Jacob D., Deborah M. Gordon, "Harvester ant trajectories and interactions inside the nest entrance chamber"
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- Ant movement and interactions were tracked manually using a Java application “Frameviewer” (https://github.com/samcrow/FrameViewer-AnTracks), to obtain time-dependent trajectories and locations of interactions of ants in the entrance chamber during active foraging of 4 colonies in the field. Ants were categorized according to their start and end action (Davidson et al. 2016). The data is arranged with a “trajectories” and a “points” file for each colony observations. The trajectories file contains category labels, ant ids, and other information on each ant’s trajectory as identified in the header of the file. The points file contains locations and corresponding time stamps from tracking, whether or not an interaction between ants occurred at a time step, and other information regarding the interaction. The trajectories and points files were generated from manual tracking using the Frameviewer application, and then annotated to include category information for each ant.
