- Juan Hernandez and other strike leaders, including Fermin Salazar, Fidel Sanchez and Bonifacio Martinez, at the press conference after the dialogue to negotiate wage increases with the government. When strikers saw the wage increases were very small, they began organizing an independent union for farmworkers.
