Abstract/Contents

Abstract: This polygon shapefile represents generalized oil and gas production areas in the United States, based on the location of existing and historical well production. Data includes type of commodity produced (gas, oil, or gas and oil). This layer is from Winter Quarter 2016.
Purpose: This layer is intended to assist users in locating and analyzing oil and gas basin data in the United States and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data.
