Janet Coleman-Belin : Interview for Stanford Community Women's March Oral History Project
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- Janet Coleman-Belin, a Stanford undergraduate student, recounts her experience attending the Women’s March in San Francisco. In comparison, Coleman-Belin describes flying to Florida to campaign for Hillary Clinton in the final days of the 2016 election. She juxtaposes the unity and comradery she felt working on the campaign with the unity and empowerment she felt marching. Coleman-Belin recalls observing the pro-life march that occurred prior to the Women’s March and the conflicting feelings she and her friends had. She discusses the importance of intersectionality and discusses how her views differed from those of her roommate Catherine Xie, with whom she attended the march. She concludes by discussing her goals for activism and community organizing in the coming years. Coleman-Belin is studying architectural design and biology at Stanford.
