Erica Watkins : Interview for Stanford Community Women's March Oral History Project
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
- Erica Watkins describes her experiences attending the Women’s March and the Inauguration Day protests in Washington, DC. Watkins had been enrolled as an undergraduate at the University of Missouri at the time of the election, but left after Trump’s election because of the conservative political climate. Watkins describes her enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton, the disillusionment she felt after the election, and her decision to leave Missouri. She contrasts the peaceful Women’s March with her participation in the more extreme protests that took place on Inauguration Day. Watkins, whose parents work at Stanford, grew up on the Stanford campus and attended high school in Palo Alto.
