Spectre: Taking Augmented Reality Behind the Wheel
Abstract/Contents
- Abstract
Spectre revolutionizes the newest advancements in augmented reality (AR) by
manufacturing this technology as part of glass windshields and windows of vehicles. Spectre pairs this with voice-recognition software, map search capabilities, and a console-embedded touch screen. Spectre uses AR to place digital images and markers on reality as seen through all of the cars windows. Drivers with Spectre-enhanced glass in their vehicles will encounter an entirely new experience, as AR becomes part of daily commuting. With Spectre, drivers can actually see routes mapped out on the pavement in front of them. Places of their choosing (coffee shops, gas stations, etc.) are visually highlighted right before their eyes. Construction zones and emergency vehicles are visually identified, and so are available parking lots and spaces. Drivers are able to re-route and navigate quickly and efficiently, all without taking their eyes off the road.
